| Key Experience | Mr. Ong (“HT”) is a well qualified multi-disciplinary consultant, experienced in pre and post contract quantity surveying duties, commercial and contractual administration/management of various types of construction projects, gained from over 20 years of working for architectural practices, quantity surveyors, project managers, civil engineering and building contractors and specialist consultants.
He is a fellow member of five professional institutions, namely, The Chartered Institute of Building, The Royal Institution of Surveyors, The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, The Institution of Surveyors Malaysia and Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.
A Specialist Consultant and Registered/Chartered Quantity Surveyor (Reg.QS), his specific experience and expertise include contracts management/administration, claims preparation/defense, dispute resolution, risks and value management. He specializes in alternative dispute resolution, particularly in arbitration advisory and support services, documentation and proceedings. He also acts as an Arbitrator, Mediator and/or Negotiator on many technical, commercial and contractual disputes/differences between the contracting parties, at both main and sub-contract levels on various types of project in the construction industry, believing in speedy and just resolution of disputes for the disputing parties.
HT is a Panel Arbitrator of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA), an Accredited Mediator and Value Manager to the Mediation and Value Management Panels of Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) respectively, a Regional Convenor of Institution of Value Management Australia (IVMM), the past Deputy President of Chartered Institute of Building Malaysia (CIOBM) and 1st Treasurer-General of Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (ISM). He is also supportive and active in social and charitable organizations for many years, which include Ti-Ratana Welfare Society and Lighthouse Club, the latter being the current President of Lighthouse Club, Kuala Lumpur.
A certified Master Trainer, he has organised and delivered in many public and in-house conferences, seminars and workshops for professional institutions and private/public listed companies on several subject areas, in particular construction contracts, ADR, risks and value management.
